dr. William (bill) moss (Keynote Speaker)
Dr. Moss is a Professor in the Departments of Epidemiology, International Health and Molecular Microbiology and Immunology at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health and Head of Epidemiology at the International Vaccine Access Center. He is a pediatrician with subspecialty training in infectious diseases, and has worked in Ethiopia, Kenya, South Africa, Zambia, Zimbabwe and India among other countries. The specific focus of his current research is in understanding the impact of the HIV epidemic on measles control and eradication, the epidemiology and control of malaria in southern Africa, and the care and treatment of HIV-infected children in rural Zambia.
Elizabeth mccarthy
Ms. McCarthy leads a global team of public health scientists at the Clinton Health Access Initiative (CHAI). She and her team develop high impact data analyses to improve global health care delivery. For the past 7 years, Ms. McCarthy has led a DFID-funded impact evaluation program where results from demand-driven evaluations have informed health policy decisions. Prior to joining CHAI Ms. McCarthy worked with the U.S. Centers for Disease Control & Prevention in Atlanta, GA, USA.
Dr. Roma Chilengi
Dr. Chilengi serves as the Chief Scientific Officer at the Centre for Infectious Disease Research in Zambia (CIDRZ). He joined CIDRZ in 2011 where he has since led a number of research projects. His interest is in vaccine research, child immunisations and public health with a bias towards infectious tropical diseases. As CIDRZ Chief Scientific Officer he oversees all research and training programmes as well as leads his own research work focused on rotavirus and other enteric pathogens.
Dr. medhin Tsehaiu
Dr. Medhin currently serves as the UNAIDS Zambia Country Director. She has a wealth of experience in global health leadership having previously served as the Country Director in South Sudan and as current WHO Director General Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus’ Chief of Staff during his tenure as Minister of Health of Ethiopia.
Ambassador Daniel L. Foote
Ambassador Foote was appointed as U.S. Ambassador to the Republic of Zambia on November 20, 2017. At the time of his appointment, Mr. Foote was the Acting Assistant Secretary, Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs at the Department of State, where he had served as Deputy Assistant Secretary since 2015. Known for his leadership acumen, judgment and communication skills, he has held diverse senior foreign policy positions.
Bethany baxter
Bethany Baxter is the Acting PEPFAR Country Coordinator for Zambia. Previously, Ms. Baxter was the Global Fund Liaison for the Country Coordinating Mechanism (CCM) Secretariat within the National HIV/AIDS/STI/TB Council (NAC) in Lusaka, Zambia. In that role, Bethany serves as an integral member of the United States Government PEPFAR Team and provides expertise to build the capacity of the CCM Secretariat and CCM for the long-term.
